JEveryone has seen this image at least once in their life. The wave of Hokusai invites itself to the Museum of Asian Arts in Nice until January 29, 2023 with the exhibition “Hokusai. Journey to the Foot of Mount Fuji”. The work of the Japanese, specialist inukiyo eis revealed through 126 prints from the collection of Georges Leskowicz. A daring artist, Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849) renewed the codes of the traditional landscape motif in Japan and contributed to the success of the genre, in particular through his iconic series of the 1830s such as The Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji Where The falls and The bridges. In his work, the “old man mad about painting” takes up both Chinese and Japanese pictorial traditions and Western linear perspective. The selection also sheds light on how the Japanese traveled through their country during the Edo period (1603-1868). Eight notebooks of Sleeve, work in 15 volumes, are presented, as well as ten ancient Japanese objects echoing the work of Hokusai§

A new youth award
To encourage the youngest to take an interest in reading, the town hall of Nice is launching a new youth literary prize. The particularity ? CM2 students will decide the winner. Children aged 9 to 11 will be offered a selection of books by Nice booksellers, in agreement with their teachers. Then they will reveal their favorite book and award this new award themselves during the next edition of the Book Festival, scheduled for June 2 to 4, 2023.

Soon an AI school
A French school of artificial intelligence (Efelia Côte d’Azur) will soon see the light of day in the Alpes-Maritimes. The project is led by the University of the Côte d’Azur (UCA), winner of the call for expressions of interest “Skills and professions of the future” (CMA), launched by the National Research Agency and the Caisse deposits and consignments. In conjunction with the 3 IA Côte d’Azur Institute and the 3 IA network, the UCA will have 8 million euros over five years to create certified training and offer an offer of moocs in IA.

This is the number of visitors who walked the streets of Nice during the summer season, compared to 5 million in 2019, the reference year before the pandemic. With this result, the city, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, becomes the number one tourist destination in France, and the fourth in all of Europe.
