Global AI Summit 2022 kicks off with the launch of several new international initiatives

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, September 15, 2022 /PRNewswire/ —The World AI Summitofficially opened on Tuesday, bringing together prominent private sector leaders, government officials and academic professionals from around the world for a series of discussions on the future of AI. This three-day summit, organized by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), is expected to bring together more than 200 speakers from 90 countries and 10,000 participants.

At the G20 in 2020, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia fostered international consensus on the OECD Principles for Trustworthy AI. On the first day, ministers signed the Riyadh Declaration on the Call to Action on AI, an agreement outlining the long-term vision of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) to bring AI technology serving individuals, communities, nations and the world.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also unveiled its AI ethical principles on the opening day of the summit. Designed by the SDAIA and grounded in global and national standards, this framework will serve as a practical guide for embedding AI ethics throughout the AI ​​system development lifecycle.

AminNasser, CEO of Aramco, Sebastian Thrun, CEO of KittyHawk, and JrgenSchmidhuber, Director of the AI ​​Initiative at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), are among the speakers at the summit.
